Sailing,
Barcelona

My Mini got stuck in Perpignan as I had to go back home to cure my toe after the first part of the trip.
The leg lead around the Cap de Creus, which according to a sailor I met on the dock is also known as the Cape Horn of Catalanya. So a lot of wind to be expected.

I reached out Anna from BISC and she put me in touch with Matteo and Mish. Both of them sail a lot and are interested in Minis, so they were excited to join the trip.

After they both arrived from Barcelona and we got to meet each other, the initial plan was to head out that night. The forecast based on the AROME weather model got worse and worse, predicting gusts in the 40s.

What lead me to that decision?
- I didn‘t know the area.
- I didn‘t know the other two guys and their abilities (however they seemed more experienced than me).
- We would have sailed around the cape in the darkness.
- At this point I didn‘t know my boat extremely well.

For me it‘s common sense to postpone in such a scenario, even though it meant leaving one crew member on shore.

I decided to postpone the departure, which meant that Matteo couldn’t join as it was too tight for him time-wise.
